The
Vanuatu Maritime College, which commenced training in 1999, is located close
to the town of Luganville on the island of Espiritu Santo. It is well
supplied with classrooms, workshops, practical training facilities (including three vessels) and student accommodation.
The
mission statement "Quality training for seafarers and fishers at all
levels to improve employment opportunities in the maritime and fishing
industries and enhance safety at sea" provides the driving force and
sets the standard for everything that happens at the College.
Vanuatu
is on the IMO’s ‘White List’. This means that certificates issued by
Vanuatu to seafarers meet the requirements of STCW 95 and are thus
internationally acceptable.
