An
Engine Watch Rating certificate confirms that the holder is competent
to perform duties as rating forming part of an engineering watch on
board vessels engaged on near coastal voyages. |

Prerequisites
The
candidate must be at least 16 years old, be in possession of a valid
Safety Certificate and have 12 months approved sea service in the
engine-room. |

certificate of competency as Engineer <75kW (Near Coastal Voyages)
entitles the holder to take charge of a propulsion system of less than
75kW on commercial vessels operating within 200 nautical miles of the
coast. |

Prerequisites
The
candidate must be at least 18 years old, be in possession of a valid
Safety Certificate, have 12 months approved sea service in the
engine-room and satisfactorily complete either a two-week Preparatory
Skills Course or a literacy and numeracy assessment. |

entitles the holder to take charge of a propulsion system of less than
300kW on commercial vessels operating within 200 nautical miles of the
coast. |

Prerequisites
The
candidate must be at least 18 years old, be in possession of a valid
Safety Certificate, satisfactorily complete either a two-week
Preparatory Skills Course or a literacy and numeracy assessment, and
have: |

12 months approved sea service on completion of 3 years
acceptable workshop experience; or ·
-
24 months of approved training,
including 6 months sea service on vessels >75kW propulsion power;
or
-
18 months approved sea service whilst holding a certificate as
Engine Watchkeeping Rating; or ·
-
30 months acceptable sea service
whilst holding a Safety Certificate.

exceeding 500kW on commercial vessels operating within 200 nautical
miles of the coast. |

Prerequisites
The
candidate must be at least 18 years old, be in possession of a valid
Safety Certificate, satisfactorily complete either a two-week
Preparatory Skills Course or a literacy and numeracy assessment, and
have: |

12 months approved sea service as watchkeeping engineer
whilst holding an Engineer <300kW certificate: or ·
-
12 months
approved sea service on completion of 3 years
acceptable workshop experience; or ·
-
36 months of approved training,
including 6 months sea service on vessels >300kW propulsion power.
