(STCW Convention Regulation II/4, Sections A-II/4 & B-II/4 of the STCW Code) A Deck Watch Rating certificate confirms that the holder is competent to perform duties as rating forming part of a navigation watch on board vessels engaged on near coastal voyages. Prerequisites The candidate must be at least 16 years old, be in possession of a valid Safety Certificate and have 12 months approved sea service on deck. Duration 5 weeks
(STCW Convention Regulation II/3.6, Section A-II/3 of the STCW Code) A certificate of competency as Master <20GT (NCV) entitles the holder to take charge of commercial vessels of less than 20 Gross Tonnes operating within 200 nautical miles of the coast. Prerequisites The candidate must be at least 18 years old, be in possession of a valid Safety Certificate, have 12 months approved sea service, and satisfactorily complete either a two-week Preparatory Skills Course or a literacy and numeracy assessment. Duration 4 weeks

(STCW Convention Regulation VI/1 and Sections A-VI/1 & B/VI-1 of the STCW Code) Introductory course for ni-Vanuatu seeking employment aboard tuna fishing vessels. Conducted in Bislama
(STCW Convention Regulations V/1 & VI/1 and Sections A-V/1, A-VI/1, B-V/1 & B/VI-1 of the STCW Code) Training for seafarers seeking employment as ratings aboard international vessels. Following 14 weeks of general-purpose training, students spend the last part of the course specialising in deck, engine or catering training. Students are required to live in College, wear uniforms and maintain strict discipline. Prerequisites Must be at between 20 and 35 years of age, medically fit and have a good understanding of the English language. Previous experience on domestic or overseas vessels or foreign fishing vessels or, for those interested in training as cooks or stewards, recent experience in the hotel and catering industry.
